State Senator Bill Beagle (R - Tipp City) recently announced that the Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools is now taking applications for its 2014-2015 Legislative Scholarship Program. The program offers more than 280 scholarship opportunities worth more than $1 million. High school seniors are eligible to apply and participate. Those who are selected may use the scholarships to assist with tuition costs for certificate completion and associate or bachelor degrees from participating Ohio career schools.

The program's objective is to prepare students for careers in Ohio's growing industries and businesses. To apply for the scholarship, each applicant must obtain the nomination from a member of the Ohio General Assembly. Nomination forms can be obtained at or from high school guidance counselors. Completed forms are to be submitted to the legislator's office, along with a statement of the student's current GPA and a short personal essay expressing why the student should be nominated for the program.

“It is critical that our students have the skills necessary to enter the workforce and succeed,” Beagle said. “Scholarships like these are great opportunities for students to further their education and begin working towards a successful career.”
