COLUMBUS– State Senator Bill Beagle (R–Tipp City) is proud to announce that Meijer Stores Limited Partnership has decided to invest $105 million in a dairy plant in Tipp City that will create more than 100 new jobs.

The announcement follows a competitive process where Michigan and Indiana were also considered for the location of the plant.

“Expansions like the Meijer dairy plant in Tipp City, are a sound reminder that the economy is continuing to grow and that Ohio remains a top location for businesses to start and expand,” said Beagle.  “I look forward to working alongside the county and the development partners as this project progresses and as new developments and opportunities arise.”

The State of Ohio, JobsOhio, Dayton Development Corporation, Tipp City and Miami County collaborated in creating the successful campaign to win this significant project to the benefit of Tipp City and the surrounding area.

As Chairman of the Senate Workforce and Economic Development Committee, Senator Beagle has worked legislatively to create an improved economic atmosphere where businesses can flourish and grow in Ohio with the ultimate goal of bringing more jobs to the state.

The Meijer announcement follows on the heels of the news that more than 800 jobs are coming to the old General Motors plant in Moraine.

The new Meijer dairy plant is one of several food production facility projects that Ohio has won in the last year including the Daisy plant in Wooster and the Heinz plants in Freemont and Massillon.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Ohio has jumped from 47th in the nation for job creation during the 2007-2009 period to 9th in the nation for the 2011-2013 period. Ohioans have created more than 170,000 private-sector jobs over the past three years.
