Senator Bill Beagle is joined by Tippecanoe's Jay Bell today at the Ohio Statehouse

State Senator Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) welcomed Tippecanoe High School student Jay Bell to the Ohio Senate to recognize the standout swimmer's Division II State Swimming Championship.

On his way to claiming the district’s first-ever state swimming title, Bell posted the fastest-qualifying time in the state in the 50 freestyle at the district meet and entered the state meet as the top seed.

"Jay's outstanding career made all of us in the Tipp City community extremely proud," said Beagle. "Not only did he finish his high school career by winning the school's first ever state swimming title, he will continue to make us proud as a student-athlete at Wright State this fall and I look forward to his future success."

The Red Devils swimmer set a new school record with a time of 20.82 seconds in the 50 freestyle to win the state meet.

Bell will continue his competitive swimming career as he furthers his education at Wright State University.
