STATEHOUSE -

State Senator Bill Beagle today hailed a new survey on state business climates by Chief Executive Magazine as further evidence that Ohio’s economy is back on track as a result of the pro-growth strategies created in the Statehouse over the past few years.

Chief Executive Magazine annually surveys U.S. CEOs to determine the most business-friendly states. In 2013 Ohio advanced 13 points to 22nd place, up from 35th in 2012. Ohio’s improvement was better than any other state in the union.

“Ohio’s renewed focus on responsible budgeting and pro-growth economic policy is producing results for the Buckeye State,” Beagle said. “With 115,000 new jobs created, we have made great progress, but we must remain committed to doing everything within our power to put Ohioans back to work.”

In 2011, Ohio balanced an $8 billion budget deficit without raising taxes, eliminated the estate tax, reduced income taxes by $400 million, and performed an audit of all state agencies in an effort to eliminate waste. As a result of Ohio’s Common Sense Initiative, the state has drastically reduced regulation submissions, creating a healthier environment for Ohio’s businesses who act as the driving force for job creation.

Since January 2011, Ohio has added 115,000 new jobs and ranks as one of the best states in the nation for job creation. For the full ranking of U.S. states from Chief Executive Magazine, click here.
