COLUMBUS–Senator Bill Beagle (R–Tipp City) today announced that Senate Bill 226 passed the Senate, which would designate a portion of State Route 41 in Miami County as the “Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert “Bobby” Elliot Memorial Highway.”

“Naming this highway after Sgt. Elliot would be a great reminder of his heroism and bravery as he served the people of Ohio,” said Beagle. “I hope this dedication gives his family, friends and loved ones some peace as his memory is honored.”

Sgt. Elliot was shot and killed while he was guarding a prisoner in Stouder Hospital. He served at the Miami County Sheriff’s Department for 15 years and was survived by his wife, two daughters and son.

Senate Bill 226 will now proceed to the Ohio House of Representatives for further consideration.
