COLUMBUS - On Wednesday, State Senator Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) presented a resolution honoring the service of former teacher Bob Weidner, of Beavercreek, who recently retired after a 60-year career in the classroom.

"It is remarkable to think that Bob Weidner began his teaching career in 1959, when President Eisenhower was in the White House," said Beagle. "I am pleased to recognize him today for his commitment to education, impacting so many young lives for the past 6 decades."

Weidner served in the Army before accepting his first teaching position at Newton High School in Pleasant Hill in 1959, moving on to teach at Beavercreek High School for 35 years and retiring after 20 years of teaching at Troy Christian High School this past May. His focus was in biology, physical science and physical education while coaching football and track for many years throughout his career.
