State Senator Bob Hackett (R-London) praised new data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showing that Ohio's job creators continue to provide more new opportunities for Ohioans than previously reported.

The report highlights that Ohio gained 7,700 new private sector jobs in January, pointing to signs that Ohio's workforce continues to grow. Ohio businesses have created more than 417,700 new private sector jobs since January 2011.

"Lowering the tax burden for all Ohioans while knocking down barriers for small businesses is a strategy that is working to create jobs here in Ohio," said Hackett. "Recent improvements to Ohio's business climate and common sense regulatory reform are making our state an attractive place for companies to do business, which is creating new opportunities for Ohioans to support their families."

Revised federal data also shows that Ohio companies created 9,300 more private sectors jobs in 2015 than previously reported.

More than 180,000 positions are currently posted on, with more than half of those jobs paying more than $50,000 annually.
