Senator Frank LaRose (R- Akron) today announced his committee assignments for the 129th General Assembly, including being named vice-chair of the Highways and Transportation Committee. As vice-chair, LaRose will be charged with helping to responsibly allocate billions of dollars for critical transportation projects via the state Transportation budget as well as examine other transportation-related issues. "Ohio has one of the largest networks of roads and highways in the nation, and ensuring we have a strong transportation infrastructure is vital if we are to attract and retain businesses and jobs in our state," LaRose said. He went on to say "Ohio is uniquely positioned to be a global leader in logistics which requires solid and reliable transportation resources" LaRose was also named to the Energy and Public Utilities Committee, the Judiciary-Criminal Justice Committee and the State and Local Governments and Veterans Affairs Committee. These panels oversee the regulation of the state's energy and utility industries, consider bills to keep Ohio families and communities safe, and deal with all aspects of governance at the state and local level. "I am excited to have the chance to serve on a diverse group of committees covering a wide variety of issues important to Ohio's families and crucial to improving our state and growing our economy," LaRose said. In addition, LaRose serves as Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review, which is comprised of members of both the Senate and House. The panel reviews administrative rules proposed by state agencies, departments, boards and commissions.
