Lehner honors Ethan Conley and his family for advocacy work

COLUMBUS - State Senator Peggy Lehner (R-Kettering) recently joined Senator Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) in honoring Englewood student Ethan Conley, who was named the 2015 Ohio Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champion for his community advocacy work.

In 2010, the Northmont Middle School student was diagnosed with the worst case of viral myositis with rhabdomyolysis that had ever been documented anywhere in the world. Against all expectations, he made a full recovery after spending 33 days in the hospital.

"We are all inspired by Ethan's remarkable story of survival," said Lehner. "This young man has overcome a tremendous obstacle and used his experience to raise awareness about the threat of viral myositis."

Today he serves as an ambassador and advocate for Dayton Children's Hospital, sharing his story to increase public awareness of viral myositis.
