Senator Gayle Manning (R–North Ridgeville) today joined Ford Motor Company executives in announcing the company’s plans to expand local operations and invest $168 million into its Avon Lake plant.

“In Northeast Ohio, we have some of the best-trained workers in the automotive and manufacturing industries, which makes our region the perfect place to expand operations,” said Manning. “I commend the Ford Motor Company for recognizing the Avon Lake facility’s value to their company as well as their company’s value to our local economy and I’m so pleased they’ve decided to make additional investments here.”

Ford today announced it will move production of its all-new 2016 F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks from Mexico to Ohio Assembly Plant starting in early 2015.

“Shifting production of the 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks to Ohio Assembly Plant helps secure a solid future for the dedicated workers at this facility,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas.

Ford is investing $168 million to retool the Avon Lake plant for the new medium-duty trucks. The new line of vehicles will replace the Ford E-Series lineup of vans and other commercial vehicles the Avon Lake plant has produced since it opened in 1974.

“We are extremely pleased that the dedicated, highly skilled and highly motivated UAW members of Ohio Assembly Plant have been selected to build the next-generation Ford F-650 and F-750,” said Jimmy Settles, UAW vice president and director of the National Ford Department.

The Ohio-made 2016 F-650 and F-750 trucks will go on sale in the spring of 2015.
