COLUMBUS-The Senate today passed Senate Bill 256, sponsored by Senators Peggy Lehner (R-Kettering) and Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville), which abolishes life without parole for juveniles and provides sentencing reform consistent with Supreme Court precedent to allow for parole hearings for juvenile offenders after a specified time spent in prison.

COLUMBUS-State Senator Peggy Lehner (R-Kettering) announced today that House Bill 123 unanimously passed out of yesterday's Senate Education Committee. H.B. 123 aims to improve health and safety in our schools by utilizing anonymous reporting systems, training threat assessment teams, and providing age appropriate instruction on suicide and violence prevention for grades 6-12. H.B. 123 was amended yesterday to include a pilot program that would allocate additional funds to high performing Drop Out Prevention and Recovery (DOPR) e-schools.
