COLUMBUS - State Senator Rob McColley
(R-Napoleon) today welcomed Kyle Hudson from Napoleon to the Ohio Statehouse to be recognized for his Division II swimming State Championship.
Hudson finished first in the boys 200-yard freestyle final, completing the eight laps in the 25-yard pool with a time of 1 minute, 37.53 seconds, defeating the defending champion and improving his 2021 time by 2.20 seconds.
"Kyle exemplifies every quality a star athlete should have; dedication, focus, and humility," McColley said. "He could not have represented Napoleon and the surrounding community any better, and I look forward to watching him succeed at the next level."
Hudson had finished second in the event in 2021 and hung his silver medal in his locker as a daily reminder of his goal.
Additionally, he ends his high school career holding the school 100 butterfly record and breaking sectional records in both the 100 and 200 freestyle.
Hudson will be attending Xavier University next fall to continue his education and join their swim team.
