This week, state Senator Vernon Sykes (D-Akron) urged House Speaker Bob Cupp (R-Lima) to agree to schedule meetings of the Ohio Redistricting Commission to work on congressional redistricting.
“These meetings are essential, particularly because we promised the public they would have the opportunity to testify on congressional redistricting before the commission,” Sykes said in a letter to the speaker. “It is imperative that these meetings take place as soon as possible so that members of the commission can work toward adopting a ten-year plan.”
Sykes and Cupp are the co-chairs of the Redistricting Commission. Both have to agree before a meeting of the Commission can be scheduled.
