Did You Know?

Senator Antonio is a dedicated champion of workers' rights, high-quality education, our local governments, equal rights for women and the LGBT community and healthcare for all.

She has worked to pass legislation such as Ohio's historic adoption open records law and a step therapy reform law.

The first in her family to graduate from college, Antonio holds a MPA from Cleveland State University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from CSU.

Antonio (D-Lakewood) condemned the Ohio Senate's concurrence of Senate Bill 104, which imposes restrictive and discriminatory provisions prohibiting students from using restrooms and other facilities that align with their gender identity if it does not match the sex they were assigned at birth.

Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) provided sponsor testimony on Senate Bill 132, the "Ohio Fairness Act." This legislation is modeled after the 2020 Supreme Court decision, Bostock v. Clayton County, and would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, or public accommodations.
