Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) was elected to serve Lakewood, Cleveland and Ohio's 23rd Senate District in November, 2010. He comes from the Ohio House of Representatives, where he served four terms as the Representative for Ohio's 13th House District. After graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business and political science from Walsh College, Skindell earned his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He represented the people of Lakewood as a Councilman at Large between 1998 and 2002.

11.17.15 - Senator Skindell's Legislation To Name The West Shoreway In Honor Of Governor Celeste Passes Ohio Senate

 

Columbus – Today, legislation to name a portion of the West Shoreway in Cuyahoga County in honor of former Governor Richard Celeste unanimously passed the Ohio Senate.  Senate Bill 49, sponsored by Senator Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) would rename the West Shoreway, State Route 2, as the “Governor Richard F. Celeste Shoreway.” The Celeste family made their home in the neighborhood of the West Shoreway for many years.

 
 

09.15.15 - Senator Skindell Responds To Supreme Court Decision On Charter Schools By Calling For Legislation To Protect Taxpayers

 

Columbus – State Senator Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) responded to the Ohio Supreme Court’s decision in Hope Academy Broadway Campus v. White Hat Management by urging the Ohio Senate to pass SB 59—legislation that clarifies public funds paid to a charter school remain public funds.

Columbus – Today, State Senator Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) is calling on Lakewood City Council to reject plans to close Lakewood Hospital in 2016.  Speaking at a city council meeting last night, Senator Skindell said there was no need to close Lakewood Hospital and called the closure plans misguided.
