Huffman Encourages Families to Continue Enrolling in Ohio's Imagination Library Program
August 17, 2020

Columbus –State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) is encouraging families to continue enrolling in the Ohio Governor's Imagination Library.

Of the 718,583 age-eligible children in Ohio, 188,000 have enrolled in the program since it began in the state. The initiative gives children the opportunity to receive a new free book each month, improving early language development and literacy at no cost to families.

The following counties in Ohio's 5th Senate District have together enrolled over 12,700 children:

  • In Darke County, 43% of those eligible have enrolled totaling 1,513 children.

  • In Miami County, 55% of those eligible have enrolled totaling 3,465 children.

  • In Montgomery County, 22% of those eligible have enrolled totaling 7,358 children.

  • In Preble County, 19% of those eligible have enrolled totaling 503 children.

"The Governor's Imagination Library has been a key resource to help ensure early childhood literacy and I encourage families to continue taking advantage of this free program," said Huffman. "I was proud to support a $5 million investment in this program to begin local chapters in our part of the state. Now more than ever we understand the importance of making sure our children have access to books and learning materials at home."

The Ohio Governor's Imagination Library is open to any child from birth until age five. To learn more about the program and enroll, please visit
