Senator Steve Huffman Welcomes Distinguished Guests to Governor's State of the State Address
March 24, 2022
COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) welcomed several special guests to Govenor DeWine's 2022 State of the State Address on Wednesday.

The opening prayer was delivered by the Most Reverend Bohdan Danylo, Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Josaphat. Also attending the speech as the senator's guests were Principal Matt Sableski of Carroll High School in Dayton, Mike Raiff, President of Springfield Catholic Central, and Larry Keough, Brian Hickey and Jerry Freewalt from the Catholic Conference of Ohio.

The guests commended the Senate's efforts to further school choice for Ohio families by backing a plan to directly fund community school scholarships and vouchers, and removing that responsibility from public school budgets. The plan improves school choice opportunities for parents, whether their children attend public or charter schools.

“It’s important to reassure parents that we trust them to know what educational opportunities best serve their children,” said Huffman.

The senator's guests also expressed support for his unwavering efforts to protect the unborn. Huffman noted that, "Since 2011, the Ohio Senate has passed more significant legislation to defend unborn children and protect their right to life than at any time since the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark abortion ruling in 1973."

Huffman is steadfast in his commitment to protect the unborn, sponsoring bills to protect the health and well-being of pregnant women and babies, prohibiting the use of taxpayer funds and facilities for abortion services, and many more.
