Columbus—The Ohio Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 116, which designates October 16 as George Washington Williams Day in honor of Ohio’s first African American state legislator. State Senator Cecil Thomas sponsored the legislation, along with State Senator Charleta Tavares.

Columbus—Today, State Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) testified before members of the State and Local Government Committee on Senate Concurrent Resolution 4 to urge Commissioner Robert Manfred to reinstate Pete Rose to Major League Baseball. The resolution also encourages the Baseball Writers' Association to consider Pete Rose for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

State Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) appeared on MSNBC's "Sports Matters" hosted by Rob Simmelkjaer to discuss his Senate Resolution to reintstate Pete Rose to Major League Baseball and make him eligible to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Columbus –State Senator Cecil Thomas issued a statement after Governor Kasich issued an executive order based on recommendations from his Task Force on Community-Police Relations.  The executive order contains many of the provisions found in Senate Bill 23—legislation sponsored by Senator Thomas.

Today, Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) joined the Ohio Juvenile Justice Coalition at a press conference to advocate for putting Ohio youth on a pathway to success.
According to the coalition, "each year nearly 100,000 Ohio youth go through Ohio’s juvenile court system for delinquency and status offense cases.  Research over the past decade has shown what works to give these youth opportunities to start and stay on a path to becoming positive members of our communities instead of remaining system-involved."

Columbus – Today, Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) introduced Senate Bill 95 to allow municipalities with a population of more than 35,000 to create outdoor refreshment areas that are exempt from Ohio’s open container law.  Senate Bill 95 is jointly sponsored with Senator Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati) and has received bipartisan support.
