Landis Announces Funds for Muskingum County for Redevelopment Opportunities
COLUMBUS— State Senator Al Landis (R-Dover) today announced the Ohio Department of Development is awarding $67.3 million from the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program to tear down vacant, dilapidated buildings in nine counties to make way for new development.
Muskingum County will receive $3,276,656 for the demolition of nearly two dozen buildings.
"Equipping our local communities with the funds and resources to create new infrastructure and economic opportunities is crucial to the well-being of residents in Muskingum County," said Landis. "These dollars are an investment that we will see for decades to come."
The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program was created in 2021 to help communities revitalize their neighborhoods. It is funded through House Bill 33, the state operating budget, which Landis supported.
Since 2021, the program has awarded more than $200 million in grants to support nearly 5,000 demolition projects in all 88 counties. To learn more about the program, visit here.
