Senator Landis Issues Statement on the Death of Rittman Police Sergeant Scott Ries
State Senator Al Landis issued the following statement on the death of Rittman Police Sergeant Scott Ries following a tragic shooting on Sunday, July 5th:
"Today we mourn a significant loss, not just to the City of Rittman, but to Wayne County and our state as a whole. Sergeant Scott Ries was killed in the line of duty on Sunday July 5th responding to a disturbance call. His bravery and commitment to protecting his community will not be forgotten. Thank you Sgt. Ries for your years of dedicated service to the community and paying the ultimate price while keeping it safe. I ask everyone to keep his family and colleagues in your prayers as we mourn his loss."
Governor Dewine has ordered that the flags of the United States and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Wayne County and at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes State Office Tower. Flags shall remain lowered until sunset on the day of Sgt. Ries’ funeral.
