COLUMBUS—State Senator Bob Hackett (R-London) today applauded the recent announcement made by Amazon to open its sixth Ohio fulfillment center in West Jefferson, Ohio. The new facility is projected to create more than 1,500 full-time positions in addition to the existing 6,000 Ohioans currently employed by Amazon.

"Making Ohio the most attractive state in the nation to make investments, start a business and establish a career is always a priority for me and my colleagues,” said Senator Hackett. “Over the past few months, we’ve seen very clear examples of our hard work paying off, and I am pleased that Amazon has chosen to expand its existing relationship with Ohio by building this new center in Madison County"

Additionally, the company recently announced an upcoming fulfillment center in North Randall and Monroe by the end of this year and it currently operates fulfillment centers in Etna and Obetz. There are also more than 65,000 authors, sellers and developers growing their businesses through the Amazon platform here in Ohio.

Amazon has invested over $2 billion in the state since 2011, both in customer fulfillment infrastructure and compensation to its employees in the state. They are one of the leading players in the e-commerce industry and will use the new warehouse in West Jefferson to help improve speed and efficiency and expand its presence throughout the U.S.
