Beginning on Friday, August 5th and running through Sunday, August 7th, clothes and shoes priced less than $75 per item will be exempt from state and local sales and use taxes. School supplies and instructional materials priced at $20 or less will also be tax exempt. Even online vendors will waive local and state sales taxes on designated items during this time as well.

Today Senator Bob Hackett (R-London) joined Senator Charleta Tavares (D-Columbus) and legislative staff in donating over 33,000 pounds of food to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger in central and eastern Ohio.

Widely praised by the business community, the plan to repay Ohio’s unemployment debt burden is an essential piece of the legislative effort to lighten the burden on job creators. When job creators have the resources to expand their operations and bring more employees on board, our economy grows. Our state thrives. We still have work to do, but we’re on the right track.

“With 752 acres of hiking, fishing and nature activities, John Bryan Park is one of the finest outdoor recreation venues in the region,” said Hackett. “We hope that these facility improvements will serve to enhance the outdoor experience for the thousands of families that take advantage of John Bryan each year."

“Providing adequate safety and security for prison employees and the surrounding community is a top priority for Ohio's Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections,” said Hackett. “Addressing potential vulnerabilities at each facility enhances the security of our community and prison employees.”

"Lowering the tax burden for all Ohioans while knocking down barriers for small businesses is a strategy that is working to create jobs here in Ohio," said Hackett. "Recent improvements to Ohio's business climate and common sense regulatory reform are making our state an attractive place for companies to do business, which is creating new opportunities for Ohioans to support their families."

“Any cancer-related death is a tragedy,” said Hackett. “By raising awareness and increasing support for pancreatic cancer research, we hope to lessen the devastation that this disease causes so many Ohio families.”
