COLUMBUS— State Senator George Lang (R- West Chester) this week introduced Senate Bill 184, which seeks to combat organized retail crime and promote online marketplace transparency.

“Organized retail crime endangers the lives of retail workers who are present when thefts take place,” said Lang. “This bill will protect Ohio businesses, retail workers, and consumers by making it more difficult for criminals to anonymously sell stolen or counterfeit goods on large online marketplaces.”

Specifically, the legislation will require sellers to provide basic information in order to be verified and authenticated.

Senate Bill 184 will now be referred to committee for consideration. For more information about Senate Bill 184, click here.
