COLUMBUS— State Senator George Lang (R- West Chester) this week introduced Senate Bill 186, legislation that would create a new pathway for challenging the constitutionality of presidential executive orders and federal agency rules.

“Federal overreach is a major concern for Ohio businesses and families,” said Lang. “This bill will enable Ohioans’ elected legislators to push back in instances when the federal government oversteps its Constitutionally-limited role.”

Specifically, the bill allows the General Assembly to adopt a concurrent resolution requiring the Ohio Attorney General to initiate, under the Ohio or United States Constitution, a legal action challenging a presidential executive order or a rule issued by a federal agency.

Senate Bill 186 will now be referred to committee for consideration.
