COLUMBUS— The Honorable Mary Katherine Huffman of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas today administered the oath of office to State Senator George Lang (R-West Chester) marking the beginning of his first four-year term in the Ohio Senate. Today's opening ceremonies also served as the official start of the 134th Ohio General Assembly.
Lang serves as State Senator for the 4th Senate District, which covers parts of Butler county.
"It is a privilege to represent the people of the 4th Senate District," Lang said. "I am eager to begin working with my colleagues to make Ohio a better place for families and businesses to flourish."
Prior to being elected to the Senate, Lang served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. Lang graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1985 with a major in Communications and a double minor in Marketing and Speech. Since moving to West Chester in 1990, he has been an active member of the community, including more than two decades in public service. After serving seven years on the West Chester Board of Zoning Appeals, he ran for and won the election for township trustee in 2003, where he served until being appointed to the House.
Lang and his high school sweetheart, Debbie, have been married for 35 years. They have two daughters, Amy and Alicia, and live in West Chester. Read more about Senator Lang here. Today's opening session and swearing-in ceremony can be watched on OhioChannel.org.
