COLUMBUS— Today, State Senator George Lang (R- West Chester) joined his colleagues to pass Substitute House Bill 110, the Senate's proposal for Ohio's FY 2022-2023 operating budget.

"The Senate’s budget proposal provides tax relief to Ohioans and makes fiscally responsible investments for our state’s future," said Lang. "Additionally, it contains a number of provisions that will help make Ohio more business-friendly.” Major provisions in the Senate's plan include a five percent income tax cut for working Ohioans, a financially sustainable school funding plan, investments in local governments, and increased funding for health and human services. Additionally, Senator Lang focused for a number of priorities during the committee process that will have a major impact in the the local community and across the state of Ohio, including:
  • Permanently prohibiting local governments from imposing a tax or fee on auxiliary containers (for example, a plastic or paper bag).
  • Additional funding for relief grants to businesses.
  • Increased funding for domestic violence programs and rape crisis centers.
  • Exempting employment services and placement services from sales and use tax. This excludes from taxation the cost of locating employment for a job-seeker or locating job candidates for an employer.
The bill now returns to the Ohio House of Representatives, where it is expected to be referred to a conference committee where the House and Senate versions will be reconciled.
