Today, state Senator Hearcel F. Craig (D-Columbus) praised the Ohio Senate’s passage of House Bill 687, the state Capital Budget that appropriates $10.7 million for 20 economic development projects in Ohio’s 15th Senate District, which includes part of Franklin County.

“I am excited about these projects’ much-needed investment in the community,” Craig said. “As we continue to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, it is vitally important that we continue to properly fund mental health and addiction services, economic development and cultural and community centers, as they help families, children and everyday working people continue to recover and thrive. These dollars will have an immediate impact for the residents of Franklin County.”

Local projects in the bill include:

- $2.25 million for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio
- $1 million for the Franklin Part Conservatory Palm House Renovation
- $600,000 for Zora’s House
- $500,000 for the York Mason Building Renovation
- $500,000 for Goodwill Columbus
- $400,000 for the Columbus Refugee Residential Capacity Expansion
- $100,000 for the Columbus YWCA Family Center

The Capital Budget includes $3.51 billion in funding for capital improvement projects around the state. It also provides roughly $1.2 billion to support the Intel semiconductor project. The bill now goes to the Governor for his signature.
