Craig Comments on Lack of PTSD Coverage in Workers' Comp Budget
Today, the Ohio Senate voted, along party lines, to give their final approval to the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) budget. State Sen. Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus) issued the following statement in response: “The final version of the workers’ comp budget does not include a very important measure, PTSD coverage for first responders – our police officers, firefighters and EMTs who risk their lives daily to keep us safe. “My ‘no’ vote does not reflect opposition to BWC or its funding levels, but in response to the reality that once again our first responders have been asked to wait. This is a complex and serious issue with long-term implications for the men and women in our safety forces. Our first responders don’t wait when we call them – they respond. Lawmakers’ response is long overdue.”
