Today, state Senator Hearcel F. Craig (D-Columbus) released the following statement after Republican members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission adopted state legislative maps that continue to gerrymander Ohio’s communities and give the Republican Party an unearned advantage in the General Assembly:
“I am disappointed the Redistricting Commission could not come to an agreement on fair and representative statehouse maps. In 2015, voters overwhelmingly supported reforming our redistricting process. In the past weeks, we have heard hours upon hours of testimony from Ohioans on the deleterious effects of gerrymandering. To not have a bipartisan map after all this is deeply troubling. We will continue to fight to have fair maps that allow Ohioans to have a voice at the Statehouse.”
