Craig Condemns Senate Passage of Republican Congressional Map

Today, state Senator Hearcel F. Craig (D-Columbus) released the following statement after the Senate passed, on a party-line vote, Senate Bill 258 – a congressional district map that continues to gerrymander Ohio’s communities:
“Redistricting is such an important issue because it impacts every issue addressed in Congress and at the Statehouse. It is vitally important that our districts reflect the diversity of Ohio’s communities, especially communities of color.
“I am concerned that this map was designed without transparency. Ohioans did not have the ability to properly vet it and understand how it will impact their communities. In the past three months, hundreds of Ohioans have testified on redistricting, to demand that we end gerrymandering. I want them to know that their efforts have not gone unnoticed and that we will keep fighting for fair districts.”
