Craig Speaks at Groundbreaking for New Lockbourne Greene Housing Development
Last week, state Senator Hearcel F. Craig (D-Columbus) spoke at the ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Lockbourne Greene Housing Development in the South Side neighborhood of Columbus.

“I was proud to stand with other Central Ohio leaders as we celebrated the creation of much-needed affordable housing for the South Side,” Craig said. “As Columbus continues to grow, it’s crucial to have accessible housing options available for all residents. Public-private partnerships like this are the key to guaranteeing the long-term success of our communities.”

The three-story, $15.8 million property will provide quality, affordable housing for families and children in the South Side neighborhood. This new development will house 60 units of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, with five of these units specifically designed to accommodate residents with disabilities. The new building will also house an on-site child care facility, operated by South Side Early Learning Center, which will provide coordinated and affordable services to resident families.

This project is made possible through a partnership between the City of Columbus, Franklin County and organizations including Community Development for All People, Healthy Homes, Woda Cooper Companies, Bank of America, and the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.
Other speakers and attendees at the event included Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, Congressman Mike Carey, Franklin County Commissioner Kevin Boyce, Franklin County Commissioner Erica Crawley, Franklin County Treasurer Cheryl Brooks Sullivan and state Representative Latyna M. Humphrey.
