Craig Statement on Derek Chauvin Verdict

Today, state Senator Hearcel F. Craig issued the following statement:
“The verdict today in Minnesota brings crucial accountability to an egregious act of police brutality. Although it will not fill the void created by the death of George Floyd, I am hopeful that this verdict will help lead to necessary change.
“Tragically, our nation and the city of Columbus are no stranger to the tragedy that has occurred in the Minneapolis community. We must continue the fight toward accountability, transparency and a more just law enforcement system. The death of George Floyd stirred the conscience of our nation and the world, and today’s verdict was a significant step in our fight toward a fairer justice system. We must continue our pursuit of justice. Our fight goes on. Justice must be served.”
