Hearcel F. Craig News
Today, state Senator Hearcel Craig released the following statement:
"I am deeply saddened by the loss of Casey Goodson Jr. Casey was killed by a deputy sheriff last Friday while he was returning home from a dentist appointment. He was 23 years old. My sincere condolences to his family. "I’m calling on the sheriff’s department, the FBI and all authorities involved to administer a full, comprehensive and timely investigation. It is crucial this process is prompt and transparent so Casey and his loved ones are assured that justice is served. "In 2017, I sponsored House Bill 425 to ensure body cameras worn by law enforcement are, in most cases, public record. House Bill 425 unanimously passed both chambers of the General Assembly. Legislators must continue to push for accountability."
