Craig Statement on Termination of Officer Adam Coy

Today, state Senator Hearcel F. Craig (D-Columbus) released the following statement: “I was pleased to learn that Adam Coy, the Columbus police officer who fatally shot Andre Hill, will lose his job. This was the right decision. I am relieved to see that reckless actions, such as those taken by Adam Coy, are not accepted policy or protocol and will not be tolerated within the Columbus Division of Police. We must be clear that accountability and transparency will be upheld. “Although his termination will do nothing to fill the void that Andre Hill’s senseless death has left in his loved ones’ lives, this is the first step towards seeing that justice is served. I ask our community to continue to pray and fight to ensure that police misconduct and unnecessary violence end.”
