Timken Announces America 250 Grant Awards

COLUMBUS—State Senator Jane Timken (R-Jackson Township) is proud to announce that the City of Canton and the Canal Fulton Heritage Society have each received a $5,000 grant award from the America 250-Ohio Commission.
"I am incredibly proud to have these projects recognized for their importance to both our state and our country," Senator Timken said. "As the U.S. heads into its 250th anniversary, these awards are a reminder that investments in education and knowledge are key elements to our nation's success. I look forward to seeing the impact these projects will have on our fellow citizens as we celebrate our great nation."
The City of Canton received an award for the development of a Digital Media Presentation on Untold Stories of Canton. The presentation is developed in collaboration with the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum and Downtown Canton Partnership.
The Canal Fulton Heritage Society received an award to produce a documentary titled "Where History Recedes, Community Endure; Canal Fulton Ohio." The production will focus on interviews with living descendants, historians, and community leaders to capture Canal Fulton's historic landmarks such as the Ohio & Erie Canal and the St. Helena II. The documentary will culminate in fall 2026 with a premiere screening to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States, celebrating the story of Canal Fulton and its contribution to the fabric of American History.
