COLUMBUS—State Senator Jane Timken (R-Jackson Township) has been appointed Chair of the Ohio State Senate High Education Committee by Senate President Rob McColley.

“I am very proud to have been appointed chair of the Higher Education Committee,” said Senator Timken. “I look forward to working with Vice Chair Roegner and the other members of the committee to better the education of Ohio's students.”

The Ohio Senate Higher Education Committee is made up of seven members, five from the majority party and two from the minority party. As of October 9th, 2025, Senator Timken, previously the Vice Chair, has been appointed Chair. 

"Higher education is one of the most powerful tools that we have to ensure the continued success and progress of our state," added Senator Timken. "As elected officials, we must ensure that our higher education institutions maintain their standard of excellence and ensure our graduates thrive."
