Timken Brings Millions In Investments To Stark County
COLUMBUS—State Senator Jane Timken (R-North Canton) and Ohio Senate announced the investment of $3.7 billion to support local projects across Ohio, including investments into 28 projects across the Stark County. These dollars were included in Senate Bill 450, the Capital Budget bill, which was passed by the Senate today.
"Every day I am inspired by the sense of community I see among the people of Stark County," said Senator Timken. "That's why I fought to ensure that each one of these projects received funding. These investments aren't just investments into projects, they are investments into our businesses, our communities, and our families. I was proud to champion these investments for Stark County."
The legislature generally passes a Capital Budget every two years, funding improvements to public services and facilities across the state, including schools, infrastructure, and mental health and addiction facilities. Senate Bill 450 includes: $645 Million for the Public Works Commission
$611 Million for the School Facilities Commission
$425 Million for Higher Education Institutions
$385 Million for the Department of Behavioral Health
$265 Million for the Department of Natural Resources
SB 450 also invested a total of $5,462,950 into Stark County, with 28 projects receiving funding. These projects are:
- Canton Palace Theatre Upgrades, $1,750,000
- Reservoir Park Revitalization, $750,000
- Krik Schuring Park Improvements, $300,000
- Arts in Stark Facility Improvements, $250,750
- McKinley Museum Expansion Project, $250,000
- Quail Hallow Park Improvements, $250,000
- CommQuest Canton Facility Improvements, $200,000
- CommQuest Massillon Family Living Center, $200,000
- National First Ladies Library, $200,000
- Girl Scout DreamLab Stark County, $150,000
- North Lawrence Park Project, $127,000
- Canton Public Safety Center, $125,000
- Aultman Health and Community Care Facility, $100,000
- Beach City Park Improvements, $100,000
- Serving Area Military and Veterans Center, $100,000
- YMCA of Western Stark County, $100,000
- North Industry Park and Recreation Area, $75,000
- Alliance Area Habitat for Humanity, $50,000
- Alliance Family YMCA Recreation, $50,000
