COLUMBUS—State Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) is applauding the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission's (OFCC) approval of more than $154 million in state funding for school construction projects in six Ohio school districts. Combined with $181 million in local funding, these projects represent more than $336 million in public construction work. "A student's learning environment is an important factor in receiving a proper, high-quality education and can impact students' safety and long-term success," said Roegner. "I was thrilled to see that 3 of the 6 districts receiving funding serve the 27th Senate District, receiving more than $65 million in state funding combined. I look forward to seeing their progress moving forward and the positive impact it will have on our students." The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission oversees capital projects undertaken by state agencies and state supported institutions of higher education; manages Ohio's school facility programs which provide support for the construction and renovation of public K-12 schools; and administers the funding for community-based cultural and sports facilities projects. During this week's announcement, OFCC Executive Director Cheryl J. Lyman stated, “OFCC is excited to partner with these districts to build high-quality, flexible learning environments that support their community’s vision for educational success."
