Roegner Bill to Streamline Ohio's Tax Filing Process to Become Law
COLUMBUS—State Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) today announced Senate concurrence to House amendments in Senate Bill 18. The legislation aims to streamline the tax filing process for Ohio's workers and businesses by conforming Ohio income tax law with recent federal changes.

"With an already complex tax season, further complicated by the pandemic, it is vital we make these adjustments to ensure Ohio taxpayer's best interests are protected," said Roegner. "I am glad the legislature has come to an agreement, and I am proud to announce it will soon become law for the benefit of all Ohioans."

Specifically, the legislation incorporates into Ohio law various changes to federal tax law that have taken effect since March 27, 2020. Several of these changes directly impact the tax base for either Ohio's workers or businesses. Continuity between state and federal law is crucial for streamlining the filing process.
