Roegner Champions Historic Investment Into Northeast Ohio

COLUMBUS—Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) championed the investment of $3.7 Billion to support local projects across Ohio, including 20 projects across the 27th Senate District. These dollars were included in Senate Bill 450, the Capital Budget Bill, which passed the Senate on June 6th.

“The Capital Budget reflects Ohio’s commitment to building stronger communities through strategic, long-term investments," said Senator Roegner. "I am proud to support funding for projects in and around the 27th Senate District that will enhance recreational and public facilities, ensuring these resources continue to serve our communities for years to come.”

The following projects in the 27th Senate District received funding in the Capital Budget:

  • Portage County:
    • Aurora Park Improvements, $1,000,000
    • Garrettsville Curtains Up Theatre Project, $452,323
    • Safer Futures, $425,000
    • Portage County Fairground Improvements, $300,000
    • Freedom Township Community Park Improvements, $121,000
    • Streetsboro City Center Park Playground, $100,000
    • Shalersville Township Park Enhancement, $50,000
    • Rootstown Community Park & Playground, $23,000
    • Lions Park Trail Improvements, $220,000
  • Geauga County:
    • Auburn Community Park Restroom Facility, $50,000
  • Summit County:
    • Blossom Music Center Improvements, $900,000
    • Oxbow Meadow Project, $400,000
    • IBH Addiction Recovery Centers, $350,000
    • Hale Farm & Village Restoration Project, $200,000
    • Hope & Healing Emergency Shelter Safety & Restoration Project, $200,000
    • Macedonia Longwood Park Pickleball Courts, $125,000
    • Copley Township Park Improvements, $100,000
    • Longwood Park ADA Playground Improvements, $65,000
    • Child Guidance and Family Solutions – Cuyahoga Falls and Barberton, $50,000
    • Richfield Joint Recreation Project, $50,000

Senator Roegner also advocated for the following projects impacting constituents of the 27th Senate District:

  • Child Guidance and Family Solutions – Akron, $150,000
  • Dan Street Public Safety Training Center, $400,000
  • Akron Zoo Giraffe Journey, $740,000
  • EJ Thomas Performing Arts Improvements, $1,000,000
  • Geauga County Fair Electrical Upgrades, $111,000
  • CHC Addiction Recovery, $100,000
  • Summit County Fairgrounds 4-H Project, $50,000

The legislature generally passes a Capital Budget every two years, funding improvements to public services and facilities across the state, including schools, infrastructure, and mental health and addiction facilities. Senate Bill 450 includes:

  • $645 Million for the Public Works Commission
  • $611 Million for the School Facilities Commission
  • $425 Million for Higher Education Institutions
  • $385 Million for the Department of Behavioral Health
  • $265 Million for the Department of Natural Resources

Senate Bill 450 now goes to Governor DeWine for signature.
