Roegner Receives Ohio Occupational Therapy Association's Legislator Award

COLUMBUS—State Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) today was presented with the Legislator Award from the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association (OOTA). Roegner was selected specifically for her work on Senate Bill 7, which passed earlier this year. Senate Bill 7 brings Ohio into an agreement between member states aiming to facilitate interstate practice of occupational therapy and improve public access to occupational therapy services. "I was proud to lead on this effort, and I am honored to receive this award," said Roegner. "State compacts expand career opportunities for Ohio's medical professionals, as well as improve the quality of care for the patients they serve. This common sense law lifts yet another burdensome mandate on the Ohio worker." "This critical legislation enters Ohio into the newly formed Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact and creates new access and opportunity for occupational therapy practitioners and consumers across the Buckeye State. Senator Roegner's partnership with OOTA helped Ohio become the second state to move forward with compact legislation, continuing Ohio's strong position at the forefront of positive growth and change within occupational therapy practice." Ohio was one of the first 10 member states needed to enact the compact, putting Ohio at the forefront of establishing the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact.
