Senate Passes Roegner Bill Entering Ohio Into The Podiatric Medical Licensure Compact
COLUMBUS—The Ohio Senate passed Senate Bill 354, sponsored by State Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson), which would enter Ohio into the Podiatric Medical Licensure Compact.
“Senate Bill 354 improves access to specialized medical care by allowing Ohio to participate in the Interstate Podiatric Medical Licensure Compact," said Senator Roegner. "This measure makes it easier for licensed podiatrists to practice across member states, helping address provider shortages, increasing flexibility for healthcare professionals, and ensuring patients can receive care more efficiently without compromising licensing standards.”
As a member of the compact, Ohio would create an additional, expedited pathway for qualified professions to obtain licenses in several states. Senate Bill 354 does not alter Ohio’s existing standards or regulatory requirements for podiatric medical licensure. Upon enactment, the compact would establish a coordinated system to ensure disciplinary actions and investigations are communicated between the member states.
SB 354 has been sent to the Ohio House for further consideration.
