Senator Roegner Praises Override Of Property Tax Reform Veto
COLUMBUS—State Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) joined her Senate colleagues in overturning one of Governor DeWine's vetoes on property tax reform.
“As I travel the state, I’ve heard a reoccurring theme: property taxes are too high. Ohioans should not have to pay what feels like a second mortgage to the government – it's simply unamerican, " said Senator Roegner. “This veto override is a solid first step at addressing this issue by reducing the types of property taxes which can be levied.”
Following the passage of the Operating Budget, House Bill 96, Governor DeWine vetoed 67 sections. Among sections vetoed was the restriction of subdivisions to pursue certain types of levies including but not limited to replacement and substitute emergency levies.
Levies currently in place, or on the November 2025 ballot, will not be affected by this restriction.
