Senate Passes Koehler Resolution Urging Restoration of Medicaid Work Requirements

COLUMBUS— The Ohio Senate passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 5 sponsored by State Senator Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield), urging President Trump to Support the Ohio Department of Medicaid's request to restore work requirements for certain Medicaid recipients.
“Work requirements for Medicaid encourage able-bodied recipients to obtain meaningful employment, education, or job skills training that provide a pathway towards financial independence,” said Senator Koehler. “I’m grateful to my colleagues for recognizing the value of these requirements for able-bodied adults and I look forward to President Trump addressing this issue here in Ohio and the nation.”
In July 2023, the Ohio General Assembly passed legislation that included work requirements for those in the adult Medicaid expansion population (Group VIII). The requirement is intended to help improve health outcomes in Ohio and create opportunities for Ohioans to access the 150,000 jobs available across the state.
