Senator Koehler Celebrates $850M Springfield Economic Development Project
COLUMBUS—State Senator Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield) is proud to see the City of Springfield chosen as the site for Electra's $850 million production facility.
“The investments we’ve made in advanced air mobility right here in Springfield are paying off with this announcement," said Senator Koehler. "Ohio is the heart of aviation, and the 10th District has an incredible history of manufacturing. Technology is bringing together these two legacies that will put Ohio at the forefront of how we travel and grow in the future."
Electra's new facility will produce the EL9 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft, creating an estimated 1,975 new jobs. The EL9 Ultra Short is a nine-passenger fixed-wing aircraft that uses hybrid-electric propulsion and blown-lift technology to take off and land in as little as 150 feet. The new 96-acre facility will be located at AirPark Ohio, next to Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport and plans to start operations by 2028.
