COLUMBUS—The Ohio Senate passed an amended Senate Bill 52, legislation which was amended to include a provision sponsored by Senator Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario), to create the Law Enforcement Purple Heart license plate.

"I am honored to recognize those who put their lives on the line to serve and protect our communities," said Senator Romanchuk. "This bill is not just about a license plate; it's about the bravery and sacrifices of our law enforcement. I was proud to advocate for this policy, and I celebrate the passage of this legislation."

Under this legislation, any individual who is awarded the Law Enforcement Purple Heart by the National Association of Chiefs of Police may apply for this specialty license plate with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. SB 52 commemorates this recognition of service and sacrifice.

SB 52 now goes to Governor DeWine for signature.
