Antani Amendment with Name, Image, and Likeness and Sports Betting Legalization Amended into House Bill 29, Passed by the Ohio Senate

COLUMBUS – Today, House Bill 29 was amended by the Ohio Senate to include provisions regarding legalizing sports betting as well as legalizing college athletes earning compensation from their name, image, and likeness. The amendment for name, image, and likeness ownership rights legalization was offered on the Senate floor by State Senator Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg).
“As the sponsor of sports betting legalization as well as legalization of name, image, likeness ownership for student athletes, I will continue to pursue all avenues to get these legislative initiative done,” Antani said.
The amendment reflects the language in Senate Bill 187 as passed by the Ohio Senate, sponsored by Senator Antani. The bill will now need to be concurred on by the Ohio House tomorrow.
