Antani Releases Statement on Passage of House Bill 168

COLUMBUS – Today, State Senator Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg) released a statement on House Bill 168, which passed the Senate. The bill uses American Rescue Plan dollars to pay off the state’s unemployment debt from COVID-19. The bill was also amended to include the spending of other American Rescue Plan dollars for other initiatives. “The American Rescue Plan was reckless and irresponsible spending from President Biden and Congressional Democrats. Very little of it went to actually combatting COVID-19, but rather on pet projects and to bail out Democrat run state and cities,” Antani said. “We should absolutely send back the money to the federal government, which HB 168 does, with the added benefit of saving Ohio businesses from having to pay higher taxes to pay off the unemployment debt caused by COVID-19. However, I strongly oppose the other American Rescue Dollars spent on other initiatives. This is irresponsible spending by the federal government and we should send it back instead of spending it.”
