Today, state Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) commended the Ohio Senate’s passage of the state’s capital budget (Senate Bill 450), which includes $5.9 million within Ohio’s 11th Senate District and over $5.7 million for Lucas County as a whole.

“I am excited to see the state of Ohio supporting some essential programs within Lucas County through the FY27-28 Capital budget,” said Hicks-Hudson. “Among the approved capital allocations in S.B. 450 will be support for local housing, various mental health services, local arts and recreation programs, regional Fire and Rescue training, and some historic community landmarks across Lucas County. Once the bill passes the Governor’s desk, Lucas County residents will be able to see these community investments first-hand.”

Overall, the bill appropriates $3.7 billion in capital funding, including $208 million for community projects across the state.

Some local projects in the bill include:

  • Cherry Street Mission’s Mission Point Permanent Supportive Housing program
  • Restoration of the Historic Ohio Theatre’s Children’s Theatre Workshop
  • Unison Health Renovations
  • Oregon Fire and Rescue Training Facility
  • Support for the Collingwood Arts Center Facilities
  • and the Mosaic Community Center
