Hicks-Hudson Issues Response to Governor's State of the State
Today, state Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) issued the following statement in response to Governor Mike DeWine’s State of the State address:
“Governor DeWine laid out a handful of constructive ideas to improve the quality of life of Ohioans, many of which have previously been offered by Democrats,” said Sen. Hicks-Hudson. “However, the devil is always in the details. Although the Governor’s top-line initiatives aim to better the overall well-being of our residents, it is always important to follow the money to be sure that the initiatives are fully and sustainably funded. I look forward to working with him and the legislature to improve the lives of Ohioans.”
Following the State of the State address, Senate Democrats highlighted their plan to create a budget that works for everyone and invests in Ohio families and workers. Some of their priorities include fostering economic recovery; investing in education by fully funding the Fair School Funding Plan; ensuring affordable and quality childcare and early childhood education; prioritizing safe and affordable housing; protecting the environment; and strengthening democracy.
